IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced that the action comedy Men in Black 3 will be released to IMAX theatres simultaneously with the film’s worldwide release on May 25, 2012. Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, Men in Black 3 is the first in the franchise to be released in IMAX.
“Releasing a film in IMAX 3D signals an event release, and ‘Men in Black 3′ on Memorial Day weekend certainly qualifies in a big way. We couldn’t be more excited about how MIB 3 will look and sound in IMAX theatres,” said Rory Bruer, president of Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures Releasing.
“Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Barry Sonnenfeld have made the ‘Men in Black’ franchise a fan favorite and we’re excited to feature the return of this iconic title in IMAX,” said Greg Foster, Chairman and President, IMAX Filmed Entertainment. “‘Men in Black 3′ is another strong addition to our 2012 film slate and we’re looking forward to continuing to work with the talented team at Sony Pictures.”
The IMAX release of Men in Black 3 will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX 3D Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
Comic-Con attendees had a chance to take a look at never before seen screen used props from Men In Black 3. Anyone who watched the MIB 1 and MIB 2 remember the Noisy Cricket and Neuralizer
We don’t know what each of these props does but they’re each pretty stunning on their own and it’s nice to know that the MIB III will have so many different methods of destruction. So, we have to wait until next year to find out what all these wonderful weapons do.
See Will Smith in action working on the set of Men In Black 3 as he jumps out of a window.
This mib 3 scene shoot in New York shows off Will Smith’s stunt man skills while he jumps out a window of some building. It seems that Agent J is in pursuit of something. An alien may be
A time warp happened in New York City on may 28th. Areas of Court Street and Smith Street were thrown back to the 60′s for the filming of Men In Black 3.
The streets were lined with retro cars, taxis and trucks. Also the street signs were replaced to represent a different era. Even the newspaper boxes were filled with papers showing news from the 1960′s.
The most interesting however were the imitation of old subway stations which were build all over the area. Obviously, Court Street has became Elmhurst Avenue, as per the sign on the station.
Will Smith did not take part in the high speed car chase scene of the mib 3.
“Men In Black 3” is getting filming after a number of delays previously this year.
Will Smith and Josh Brolin were shooting some scene for Men In Black III in the Queens borough of New York City on Wednesday (May 25).
In their black suits, the two men were in character as former police officers hired by the MIB who time travel back to 60s to visit the young Agent K. The movie’s bad guy Boris (played by Jemaine Clement) goes back in time to eliminate Agent K to be able to set off a chain of incidents that will lead to the world’s end.
One of the movie fans, visited the Men In Black 3 set in Long Island, where he saw Will Smith and Josh Brolin shoot some scenes for the new MIB III movie looking at a secret tunnel made into the sand hills. Here are some pictures
There have been many rumors on casting, scripts, and delays for Men in Black 3. Here is a list of the most popular ones and clarifications if any exist.
Betty White is making a cameo as one of the agent’s mother. Well according to TMZ and an interview with Ms. White, she is absolutely denying having any role whatsoever in the movie Men in Black III.
Alec Baldwin is the new 60′s MIB boss. Another rumor shot down. Rip Torn did return to take on the role of the MIB leader in MIB III, so its bye to Mr. Baldwin.
Gemma Areton will be cast in mib 3 as Agent OH in the 60′s. Unfortunately the sexy starlet did not make the cut, but in her place, and equally attractive Alice Eve will WOW audiences as the young Agent OH.
The delays in shooting have been due to Will Smith not liking much of the script, and demanded rewrites. Well there may be a bit of truth to this, but nobody is formally saying. Smith has been very involved in the last 15 years on the screenwriting side of production, and apparently with the critics poor reviews of MIB II he is not taking any chances of creating anything less than perfect. Word is the biggest issues with the script are the whole time travel, and the common errors and loopholes that are created without a well thought out, very detailed script. Men in Black III is supposed to wrap up in June 2011 and scheduled for release in May of 2012.
As has been suspected since late 2009, the plot for MIB 3 is based around the evil villain “Boris” (played by Jemaine Clement) going back in time to 1969 to kill a young Agent K (Josh Brolin). When Agent J (Will Smith) gets wind of the plot he travels back in time using a secret time travel hub (rumor has it the secret hub is an Apple Food Mart) to team up with the young “K” to prevent the assassination and thus destroying the world in the future.
There have been issues in the Men in Black 3 script, which has triggered bringing in David Koepp to perform rewrites and major adjustments to the screenplay. One of the biggest issues with the screenplay is the whole time travel premise, and making it work without creating classic time travel/paradox errors.
Production took a 6 month break before enough of the screenplay was rewritten to begin production once again. Word has it that production started up again on Coney Island, which is supposed to house much of the 1969 portion of the movie. More reports and pictures have started to come out in the last two months as well for Men in Black 3 confirming continued production.
