Sony Pictures has released an official synopsis for Men in Black 3. The synopsis reads as follows:

In “Men in Black™ 3,” Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are back… in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K’s life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him — secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind.

Sounds interesting ?

Men In Black 3 to feature retro aliens

While lots of set photos have leaked out from the upcoming Men In Black 3, none of them show the new aliens design. Special effects make-up artist Rick Baker revealed that the aliens featured in the film will have a “B-movie” style of the 1950s and 1960s as opposed to modern day versions.
“Where I had fun is that we go back to the Men in Black headquarters of the ’60s. The first thing I said is that we should have retro aliens, not aliens of 2012. More based on B-movies of the ’50s and ’60s. So, a lot of the aliens are based on that. Space suits with fishbowl helmets and ray guns.”

MIB 3 – A Year of Rumors and Clarifications

There have been many rumors on casting, scripts, and delays for Men in Black 3. Here is a list of the most popular ones and clarifications if any exist.

Betty White is making a cameo as one of the agent’s mother. Well according to TMZ and an interview with Ms. White, she is absolutely denying having any role whatsoever in the movie Men in Black III.

Alec Baldwin is the new 60′s MIB boss. Another rumor shot down. Rip Torn did return to take on the role of the MIB leader in MIB III, so its bye to Mr. Baldwin.

Gemma Areton will be cast in mib 3 as Agent OH in the 60′s. Unfortunately the sexy starlet did not make the cut, but in her place, and equally attractive Alice Eve will WOW audiences as the young Agent OH.

The delays in shooting have been due to Will Smith not liking much of the script, and demanded rewrites. Well there may be a bit of truth to this, but nobody is formally saying. Smith has been very involved in the last 15 years on the screenwriting side of production, and apparently with the critics poor reviews of MIB II he is not taking any chances of creating anything less than perfect. Word is the biggest issues with the script are the whole time travel, and the common errors and loopholes that are created without a well thought out, very detailed script. Men in Black III is supposed to wrap up in June 2011 and scheduled for release in May of 2012.

Men in Black 3 the Plot

As has been suspected since late 2009, the plot for MIB 3 is based around the evil villain “Boris” (played by Jemaine Clement) going back in time to 1969 to kill a young Agent K (Josh Brolin). When Agent J (Will Smith) gets wind of the plot he travels back in time using a secret time travel hub (rumor has it the secret hub is an Apple Food Mart) to team up with the young “K” to prevent the assassination and thus destroying the world in the future.

There have been issues in the Men in Black 3 script, which has triggered bringing in David Koepp to perform rewrites and major adjustments to the screenplay. One of the biggest issues with the screenplay is the whole time travel premise, and making it work without creating classic time travel/paradox errors.

Production took a 6 month break before enough of the screenplay was rewritten to begin production once again. Word has it that production started up again on Coney Island, which is supposed to house much of the 1969 portion of the movie. More reports and pictures have started to come out in the last two months as well for Men in Black 3 confirming continued production.

Men in Black 3 the Cast

MIB 3 has the usual suspects back, including Will Smith as Agent J, (which by the way as hard as it is to believe. It is his first movie in over 3 years) Tommy Lee Jones as Agent K, Rip Torn as ZED. Men in Black 3 also has a nice mix of young hot stars added to the cast list as well. The most notable and talked about is Josh Brolin donning the role of young Agent K. Word has it that he does some awesome impersonations of Tommy Lee Jones.

Other popular cast members include Emma Thompson, Nicole Scherzinger, Alice Eve and Jemaine Clement. Emma Thompson plays Agent OH, while Alice Eve plays the young version of OH.

Nicole Scherzinger plays the villain Lilly as well as Agent J’s girlfriend. Jemaine Clement plays Boris who is the primary bad guy in MIB 3 With an all-around solid cast of veterans as well as hot newcomers- this promises to be a solid movie.

Men in Black 3 is produced by Executive producer Steven Spielberg, Brian Grazer, Laurie MacDonald and Walter F. Parkes. MIB 3 is written by Etan Cohen, David Koepp, and Jeff Nathanson.

Men in Black 3 Production

Sony Pictures made the announcement on April 1, 2009 that Men in Black 3 was to be given a go. In Late 2009, it was reported that screenwriter, Etan Cohen was tagged to write the Men in Black III screenplay. After many creative issues with the script a second writer, David Koepp, was brought in to help rewrite portions of the movie to help in smoothing out some of the time travel issues. In September 2010 a third writer, Jeff Nathanson was hired to rewrite parts of the script. Jeff Nathanson, David Koepp and Executive Producer Steven Spielberg have worked together in the past.
In November 2010, principal photography began and continued until May 2011 in NYC. Filming broke in December 2010 and did not resume until late March 2011. Rumor was that filming was delayed due to issues with the MIB 3 script, but was denied stating that the filming was delayed to take advantage of expiring NY tax incentives and to film scenes in the spring. The 1st photos for Men in Black 3 seen in November 2010 featuring Will Smith, Emma Thompson, Tommy Lee Jones and Nicole Scherzinger on the set of the film. Men in Black III did resume production in March and is slated to wrap up in June 2011.
